Introduction
I've been selling anime to Cape Townians for a while but the response has always been mediocre... so I decided to setup this site in order to educate you guys out there on what anime is, what the different genres are and most importantly why you should buy it from me:D
What is anime?
Anime is Japanese for animation and is most likely derived from the french word l'animé.
Early in the 20th century the Japanese were trying to make big live-action films and series. Unfortunately the market stayed small because of budgets, lack of variety in location and race restrictions. Unlike in the United States which is practically built on diversity Japanese producers struggled to find western actors and locations that could not be assossciated with Japan. Producers became influenced by the use of animation after the success of Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
A manga artist by the name of Osamu Tezuka decided to adapt and simplify animation techniques used by Disney. This was only supposed to be a temporary measure to allow him to produce material quickly with an inexperienced animation team, but it eventually developed into the form of art we know it as today.
